I’m familiar with the term, your children quite literally grow up before your eyes. But my wife and I have intently watched our son Hunter born at 24 weeks prematurely, battle for his life day after day for a period of 2 months to date. When we entered the hospital today it was like someone had replaced our baby with another. He had been removed from CPAP and was breathing on reduced oxygen without distress or labour. It brings tears to my eyes every time I flick through the photos I have taken to record our journey. And more significantly so when I try to comprehend just how far we have come, the trials and tribulations that have tested us, and how close we potentially are to taking him home and feeling the compelling emotions of most term infant parents. I wanted to share a few images from today, but begin by showing an image of Hunter at 1 day old to put in proportion just how far he has come.
